It's 2024!

Well, here we are - 2024. I'm still living in Watertown with my Dad and Norm. Is this what I imagined how I would live out my life? No, no one would have guessed it.

I just got back from vacation - Turks and Caicos. Tho I was sick the whole time. Bad cold, not COVID. Now that I'm older, it feels like it takes my body longer to get better. And I'll be turning 60 this year. UGH, also dealing with some health issues.

So how do I feel about getting older? And will I be able to take care of my Dad? Trying to be strong and to enjoy life at its best. Have faith that all will be fine. What would my Mom do? I remember how she dealt with her cancer diagnosis, with grace, strength, positivity and humor. She accepted it. As should I.

We lost another good One

I'm sad to announce that my dear Uncle Rob lost his fight and passed away peacefully at home tonight. He was surrounded by my cousins and especially my aunt who has been by his side all these years. I just left and was driving home when my cousin called to tell me! He was the best guy to have around, I'll miss his sense of humor and love of family. Rest in Peace, Rob!

She did it! Por made it to 100 years old. What an amazing feat. We had relatives stop by the nursing home that I never met. Not sure if she really knew what was going on but she was a real trooper during it. Enjoy the pics!

Move Update

All done! Two moves - mine and then my dad's apt. We're now roomies. And Bailey. It's been a huge adjustment......for both of us. I realized I added more work for myself (laundry, cleaning, etc.) and have to bite my tongue a lot. We're both so used to living on our own.

He's now in LA at some Ng Association convention. Freedom!! I guess I didn't really think this through and how much it would impact my life. But it's too late and I have to learn to live with it. And I really shouldn't complain, he goes out to his club every day from 12pm to midnite. Then stays up til about 3am watching tv. Some days I don't see him!

Huge thanks to folks still hanging on and checking out my blog. I was busy with purchasing a new condo so I can move my dad in with me. I closed on 12/8 and had some minor things done in order to move in. More later.

Happy Birthday Mom

Dear Mom,
I still think of you every day and hope you are celebrating up there with our family and friends. I especially missed you at Dad's birthday celebrations, thinking of what you would have been feeling. And shaking your head! Cos you wouldn't have liked all of the attention and such a large party. Especially during a pandemic. But Dad was soooo happy and no one contracted COVID from either parties - thank goodness!

I continue to live my life thinking of how you would do things if you were still here with me. Looking back, I realized how forward thinking you've always been. I am so lucky to have you as my Mom and I'm sorry I never appreciated it when you were alive. I love and miss you dearly. Say hi to everyone for me.

Celebrating Dad's 80th Birthday

We've been talking about celebrating Dad's 80th for the last couple of years, it finally happened! Not just one party but two. First, Sat 10/2 for family and close friends. It was great to see everyone especially how my Dad wanted his brother Rob close to him front and center. Very sweet,

Then we had the "Chinatown" party - about 170 ppl! It was really eye-opening to see how much people love Dad. Everyone is either his goddaughter or godson! Below are videos of the speeches by me and Dad.

Grateful Journals

9/18/2021

I discovered these "grateful journals" and have been writing all the things I'm grateful for. Usually at the end of the day. The past 18 months have been challenging and watching the news every day is so depressing. I thought the journal can remind me of what I should focus on and reflect on the positive things. Like I'm so grateful for my family and friends! My job and the people I work with. Also grateful I still have time to enjoy my dad and grammy. Amen!

Nine years

Hi Mom, well, it's been nine years when we said our final goodbyes. I miss you so much. Dad said he couldn't sleep last night cos he was thinking of you. If you didn't know already, he's hanging there. Yesterday, he went to see an orthopedic doctor and was told he has osteoarthritis in his right knee. He was given a cortisone injection and now feels so much better. Says he can fly!

We're planning his birthday parties - one for family and close friends and the second one for his Chinatown friends. I hope this will make him happy. Almost as happy as you were at your 60th birthday party!

I hope you're happy and content looking down at us. I can picture you smiling and of course smoking. I love you, Mom.

I'm fortunate enough to have an awesome job at a biotech company. I'm also blessed to have the bestest of friends in the world - from Castle Square, ATASK, and Jamie Club - you know who you are! Last but not least, I have a family that are always there for me.

Because of all the people in my life, awesome opportunities have come my way - working and volunteering in the community. I hope to continue that work with a little help from my friends.
