What can I say that hasn't been said over the last week? In a way, I'm glad my Mom isn't here to experience all of the emotions that we as a community all felt during the horrific events. Fear, sadness, anger, disbelief, and anxiousness. And then the lockdown on Friday in Newton. WTF!! It was so surreal that we had to stay home because we were told Suspect #2 was armed and dangerous and on the run in the surrounding areas of Watertown.
I ended up going out after 9 hours of watching the news wondering why with all the thousands of police and law enforcement guys, they still couldn't find him. I have to say I looked to my right and left before leaving my apt. And also made Rob stay on the phone with me until I got into my car.
I can only imagine Mom shaking her head. She wouldn't try to rationalize it. Just chalk it up to some fucked-up kids. The last couple of years, she and my Dad would watch the runners go by their apt complex. So in a sense. this tragedy would have affected her. But she would focus on the positive and reiterate what we've learned from all of this. Stay strong, Boston!
