Close call - Poor Por Por

Por Por was rushed to the hospital early Sun morning around 3:30am because her heart was beating at 200 bpm! Dave was instructed by the docs to contact the immediate family! At the time, she was not responding well. Me, Norm and my Dad showed up at the ED and she looked bad. I honestly thought she wouldn't make it.  They gave her some heart meds, antibiotics and fluids and slowly her BP came back up and her heart rate slowed. They decided to send her to ICU so it was a good sign??? But the ER doc basically told us she wasn't out of the woods. He wasn't very optimistic and didn't offered much hope.

One positive thing throughout this experience, she still recognized me! After she was settled, she turned to me and said why are you wearing that shirt? So I knew she was feeling better. After all of the tests were done, the EKG came back negative. Her heart was doing well for someone her age. They decided she was well enough to move her out of ICU.

When we visited her yesterday, she couldn't stop talking. She was being negative and mean! She is definitely getting better. It's going to be a long road ahead.

Thank goodness my Uncle Dave is there taking care of her.

Happy Mother's Day to all. And if your Mom isn't here then celebrate her life today!

t's funny because on Friday I didn't want to be around ANYONE. Anti-social and just wanted to be alone with my thoughts and memories. But then Saturday I didn't want to be alone?! So it was good that we planned on having lunch at the nursing home to celebrate Por's 97th birthday. It was nice to see the brothers together.

I'm fortunate enough to have an awesome job at a biotech company. I'm also blessed to have the bestest of friends in the world - from Castle Square, ATASK, and Jamie Club - you know who you are! Last but not least, I have a family that are always there for me.

Because of all the people in my life, awesome opportunities have come my way - working and volunteering in the community. I hope to continue that work with a little help from my friends.
