a Couple of quick trips for Memorial Day Weekend

Took a quick trip to NYC yesterday to meet up with Nancy and Brandon. Also we wanted to visit my Aunt and Cousin Henry. My Aunt looks great for someone in her 80s! Henry was his usual protective self towards my Aunt. He's a good son.​​

Dad wanted to drive back to MD with Nancy so I had a nice relaxing ride back home by myself! Was singing and dancing - as much as you can dance while driving and watching out for cops. There were a ton of cops on the road cos of the holiday.

Then home for a day and off to York, ME! Hotel on the beach but it was freezing out - only in the 50's. My friend enjoyed it though. I enjoyed the seafood especially the lobsters!

Found these videos of Mom in NYC

I can't believe I didn't post these videos. We went to NYC in March 2012 so about 6 months before she passed. Her hair grew out from the chemo. She was so calm and didn't let anything get to her including my Dad bitching at her. I know he didn't mean it and that's why I thought it was funny. These two were characters for sure!

Happy Mom's Day

Today is always tough cos everyone is celebrating with their moms. But I went to brunch this am with my Aunt Mona and cousin Renee. They are so considerate and generous by inviting me to celebrate with them every year since Mom passed. Mona is like a second mom to me. After brunch I brought my Dad to visit Por Por. She seemed happy to see us!

I miss my Mom still. Found an old picture of us.....sigh.

Life is tough

Met with a group of friends yesterday and everyone seems to be going through a tough time. Whether it's work-related, health-related or asking a spouse to move out - it's challenging times for them. I couldn't sleep last night cos I wish there was more I can do for them. 

I guess that's life and there are ups and downs for everyone. It's how we handle it and what kind of support system we have? My heart is heavy today :(

    I'm fortunate enough to have an awesome job at a biotech company. I'm also blessed to have the bestest of friends in the world - from Castle Square, ATASK, and Jamie Club - you know who you are! Last but not least, I have a family that are always there for me. 

    Because of all the people in my life, awesome opportunities have come my way - working and volunteering in the community. I hope to continue that work with a little help from my friends.
