Got up early this am and volunteered at South Cove Manor's annual Holiday luncheon for their residents and their family members. Helen who also came with me said Christmas was her Mom's favorite holiday so she felt this was her way of giving back. Aaaaawwww. We actually started getting emotional on the ride to the nursing home :( But in a good way. It went by really fast, set up, served cornish hens, ribs, broccoli, rice and Chinese pastries and then cleanup. The mood was festive and I think the seniors enjoyed their special luncheon. Loved it! We were given these antler-like headbands to wear as volunteers. So we decided to wear them to visit Por Por. OMgoodness, I haven't seen her laugh so much in a long time. And then she said we were still acting like kids even tho we're old! Even one of the nurses came in and commented that she had never seen Por so happy and laughing so much. We then put one of the headbands on her and told her she looked younger - like 60 years old. Anyways, she really enjoyed our visit.
