Surviving Orlando with Dad

Just got back from Florida with Dad. We met Nancy there and thank goodness she came along! Don't get me wrong, my Dad isn't that bad for an old 75 year old. She kept him company - she also agreed to stay in the same room cos they both snore.

For our first park, we went to Animal Kingdom. Dad refused to sit in a wheelchair having no concept of how big the park is. He put on a brave face but we knew he was tired. We stopped alot so he can rest. And yes, we hit all of the smoking sections.  We ended up at urgent care cos he had what looked like a rash on both of his legs from his ankles up to his knees. Luckily he is alright, broken red blood cells from standing too much.

2nd park - Epcot for the International Food and Wine Festival! We learned our lesson and rented a wheelchair. He really enjoyed it - we went on a simulated ride and he said it was exciting! We pretty much ate our way through. So good.

3rd park - SeaWorld. Not much to add here. Dad did enjoy the Orca whales, dolphins and sea lion shows. But there's also a reason why I haven't gone in almost 25 years!

His favorite part of the whole trip was the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom. Also typical chinaman mentality, when petting the dolphin he was thinking shark fins soup. So who knows what else he was thinking of when he was eyeing the other animals. All in all, I'm glad we took him. Never in a million years would he have gone with us 10 years ago. He would have been bitching about everything and refusing to do anything. But now he is patient and so easygoing.  See pics!

I'm fortunate enough to have an awesome job at a biotech company. I'm also blessed to have the bestest of friends in the world - from Castle Square, ATASK, and Jamie Club - you know who you are! Last but not least, I have a family that are always there for me.

Because of all the people in my life, awesome opportunities have come my way - working and volunteering in the community. I hope to continue that work with a little help from my friends.
